Keep Your Hardwood Floors Looking Their Best

Hardwood flooring is and always will be one of the most popular flooring options. It is so versatile and can come in any shape, size, or texture you want, and it’s easy to maintain if you take the time to care for them properly. Here at Beall Contracting, we always recommend hardwood flooring in any home we work in. Our professional handymen are on standby to respond to emergency requests.

The one downside to hardwood flooring is that if you don’t maintain it properly and you don’t do what you need to, it can wear down really easily and not last you as long as you want it to. Like most things in your home, your hardwood floors need proper cleaning and proper maintenance. But not everyone knows how to keep their hardwood floors looking their best.

We asked the team at Beall Contracting if they had any tips for keeping your hardwood floors looking in tip-top shape, and this is what they had to say…

4 tips to keep your hardwood floors looking their best:

1.    Cleaning
When it comes to keeping your hardwood floors looking their best, one of the most important things you can do is clean them often. Whether it be vacuuming them every other day, sweeping every day, or mopping them at least once a week. Keeping up on your cleaning is key in keeping your hardwood floors looking their best.

Not many people know but there are certain cleaners you want to use on your hardwood floors. There are so many different options on the market, but some are worth it and some aren’t. Do your research on what kind of cleaning products are best for your wood floor type, your lifestyle, etc.

2.    No polyurethane or acrylic wax
To stem off cleaning your floors, you want to be careful with what kind of products or ingredients you use on your hardwood floors. You will want to avoid using any type of product that contains polyurethane or acrylic waxes. If you use either of these ingredients, you are risking taking the finish off your hardwood floors off and damaging the wood. When choosing products to use on your floors, take your time to read the ingredient list so you don’t ruin your beautiful floors.

3.    Remove scratches
It’s no surprise that life gets crazy, especially if you have pets and kids. Scratches are bound to happen on your hardwood floors, but if you take care of them right away (or regularly), you can make your hardwood floors last longer. Buff out any scratches with a scouring pad that’s dipped in mineral turpentine. This will get rid of any minor scratches and make your hardwood floors look brand new!

4.    Refinish them
If your hardwood floors have been abused or abandoned for quite some time, it might be time to refinish them. Here at Beall Contracting, we offer refinishing services to bring your hardwood floors back to life. It’s simple, affordable, and so much fun to bring your floors back to life!
